Just a quicky…
The first release candidate of the new version of Thunderbird, the lightweight and secure desktop email client, is now available for download. This should be pretty stable now, rather than the earlier beta versions.
If you are still using Outlook Express, which comes free with Windows, then take this opportunity to switch. Thunderbird is smaller, quicker, and is significantly more secure than the MS alternatives. It’s also far more useful, with a range of third party plugins available.

10|Apr|2007 1Having written the above, I came to think that I am not sure exactly who uses a desktop email client these days, what with the advances of Gmail and Yahoo’s webmail.
Anyone?

16|Apr|2007 2Well, I’m using Thunderbird as an offline backup of all emails, from Gmail to Yahoo. Way better than an online-always-opened interface…
